About Daniel

Before founding HTJ, I played professional baseball in the United States and Australia — years spent competing abroad that sharpened an instinct for what international travellers actually need: clarity, reliability, and a host who understands the world they come from.

Hire Taxi Japan was built without investors, without agency backing, and without a head start. Before I was a founder, I was a driver — over 1,000 airport transfers across Narita, Haneda, and KIX, completed personally. I also hold a certified vehicle maintenance licence. I know this business from the road, not from a report.

Beyond the wheel, I designed this platform, architected our booking system, and led the technology build that made HTJ the first hire car company in Japan to operate a fully self-owned direct reservation system.

Booking Terms & Cancellation Policy

Hire Taxi Japan (operated by LigarcsJapan Co., Ltd.) is a Type-3 Registered Travel Agency (第3種旅行業者) under Japan's Travel Agency Act (旅行業法), registered with the Governor of Tokyo under Registration No. 3-8264. As required by Article 12-4 of the Travel Agency Act, our agency terms (旅行業約款) are made available below and are based on Japan's government-issued Standard Travel Agency Terms (標準旅行業約款).

1. Scope of Service

As a Type-3 agency, Hire Taxi Japan arranges domestic ground transportation (airport transfers and private chauffeur tours within Japan) on the client's behalf. We do not sell or arrange air travel, accommodation, or overseas package tours.

2. Booking & Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once Hire Taxi Japan issues written confirmation (email or booking system) after receipt of the required booking details and, where applicable, payment or deposit.

3. Cancellation Fees

Airport / cruise / Disney / Tokyo Station / point-to-point transfers under 150km

  • 24 hours or more before the reservation: full refund
  • Less than 24 hours before the reservation: no refund

Tours, charters & long-distance P2P transfers (150km or more)

These bookings are Custom Package Tour Contracts under our Travel Agency Terms and Conditions. Cancellation fees are charged up to the following maximum rates, calculated on the total tour price; the exact rate for your booking is stated in your Contract Document.

  • 20 days or more before the start date (10 days or more for day trips): up to 20%
  • 7 to 19 days before the start date: up to 30%
  • The day before the start date: up to 40%
  • The start date itself: up to 50%
  • After the tour has started, or no-show without notice: up to 100%

Multi-day & multi-vehicle bookings

Paid in installments (20% at booking, 30% at 15 days prior, 50% at 2 days prior); the same tiered cancellation fees above apply, based on the first day of the itinerary.

If a passenger's flight status shows "Arrived" and our driver is unable to reach them, the booking is treated as a no-show and is not eligible for a refund. All times are Japan Standard Time (JST).

4. Liability

Hire Taxi Japan's liability for any loss or damage arising from our arrangement services shall not exceed the total service price paid, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence. We are not liable for delays or losses caused by force majeure, including but not limited to natural disasters, flight irregularities, or traffic conditions beyond our control.

5. Complaints & Consultation

Complaints regarding our travel arrangement services may be directed to info@hiretaxijapan.com. Clients registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government may also consult the Tokyo Travel Agency Registration Office regarding unresolved disputes.

6. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, including the Travel Agency Act and the Standard Travel Agency Terms issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
