Gotemba
Premium Outlets
Japan's largest premium outlet mall with Mt. Fuji as the backdrop — door-to-door from your Tokyo hotel, no luggage hassle, no bus schedule.
Japan's largest outlet mall,
Mt. Fuji behind it
Gotemba Premium Outlets is Japan's largest outlet complex — 210+ brands across two sprawling wings, set at 600m elevation with Mt. Fuji clearly visible on fair-weather days. Japanese luxury sits alongside international names: Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, Gucci, Armani, Coach, Burberry, and dozens more.
The highway bus takes 2+ hours from Shinjuku, runs on a fixed schedule, and you're on your own with shopping bags for the return journey. A private car is 90 minutes from central Tokyo, your driver waits on-site the entire day, and you return the moment you're ready — however many bags you're carrying.
The nearby Tomioka Onsen hotel offers day-use hot spring facilities — a popular end-of-shopping-day addition before the drive back. Gotemba city market for local Fuji apples, mikan, and wasabi products is 10 minutes away.
Select Brands
When to shop — sales by season
Gotemba has a strong seasonal sales rhythm. Timing your visit around major sale events can mean 30–70% off on select brands. Here's what to expect each season.
March through April brings end-of-winter clearance on coats, knitwear, boots, and cold-weather accessories. Prices drop as stores clear stock before the new spring season arrives.
Spring is the most pleasant time to shop at Gotemba. The mall is largely open-air — mild temperatures, long days, and the Mt. Fuji views are typically clear through April before summer haze sets in.
Spring falls between the peak periods. Golden Week (late April–early May) is an exception — extremely busy. If you can avoid Golden Week, spring is one of the best times to visit for both selection and atmosphere.
Alongside clearance racks, spring brings new season arrivals from Japanese and international brands. The combination of last season's discounts and new season's full selection gives you the widest choice.

July and August bring Gotemba's biggest sale event of the year. Select brands offer up to 70% off on spring and summer stock. The sale covers clothing, accessories, shoes, and bags across both wings.
At 600m elevation, Gotemba is noticeably cooler than central Tokyo in summer. The open-air mall benefits from mountain breezes — more comfortable than Odaiba or city shopping on a hot August day.
July sees both summer sale discounts and remaining spring clearance. The overlap period (early to mid-July) typically offers the widest selection of discounted items before summer stock depletes.
Summer often brings afternoon cloud cover over Mt. Fuji. Arriving at opening time (09:30) maximises your chances of clear mountain views before the clouds build up mid-morning.

October and November bring a rare double opportunity: autumn/winter new arrivals at full price alongside remaining summer clearance. The widest selection of the year with both options available simultaneously.
October is widely considered the best month for Gotemba views of Mt. Fuji. The air is crystal clear, the mountain often dusted with early snow, and the sky is a deep autumn blue. Spectacular backdrop for a shopping day.
Japanese fashion brands release autumn/winter collections from September. Full-price new season merchandise from Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, and Japanese luxury labels arrives in stores through October.
Autumn weekdays at Gotemba are among the most pleasant times to visit. The summer sale rush is over, the crowds are manageable, and the outdoor shopping environment is at its most comfortable.

January 2nd is the most famous shopping day in Japan. The New Year sale (大セール) at Gotemba attracts visitors from across the country. Fukubukuro (lucky bags) sell out by mid-morning — arrive at opening.
Late December brings strong year-end clearance across most brands as stores push to clear stock before the new year inventory. Less chaos than January 2nd, still excellent discounts.
Winter brings Gotemba's most dramatic mountain backdrop — Mt. Fuji fully snow-capped against a clear blue winter sky. Cold, but the mountain views make it worth it.
The end-of-shopping-day onsen stop hits different in winter. Cold air outside, warm spring inside, heavy bags stowed in the car — the Tomioka Onsen addition is most popular in the cold months.

Tokyo Hotel Drop-offReturn with your bags — no bus schedule to catch
Door to door,
bag to bag
No bus schedules, no luggage struggles on trains, no worrying about the last departure. Here's exactly what to expect.
We collect you from your hotel lobby in a spacious Alphard or HiAce (for larger groups). Bags, kids, strollers — no problem. 90-minute drive through the Fuji foothills to Gotemba.
Your driver briefs you on the mall layout, current sale locations by wing, and where to find your priority brands. No time wasted walking the wrong direction at opening.
We wait on-site the entire time. Need more time? Just message us — we adjust. Bags accumulating? Drop them to the car at any point. Shop at your own pace, on your own schedule.
Tomioka Onsen is 10 minutes from the outlet — popular as a relaxing end to a long shopping day. Then direct hotel return. All bags loaded, all comfortable, no bus schedule to catch.
Groups with many bags: The Toyota HiAce fits up to 9 passengers with generous luggage space — ideal for groups who plan to shop seriously. Alphard (up to 6 guests) for smaller groups and couples. Specify your group size when booking and we'll assign the right vehicle.
Two vehicles.
One formation.
When the group exceeds what a single vehicle can hold, we don't hand you off to a bus company. We send two — or three — of our own vehicles together, coordinated as a fleet. One lead driver, one group chat, one point of contact. Every vehicle in the convoy is ours. Every driver is ours. That is what makes it different from a chartered bus.
Enquire About Convoy BookingTwo private Alphards in convoy. Ideal for families, small corporate groups, or couples travelling together.
VIP passengers in the Alphard, the rest in the HiAce. Keeps groups together without putting everyone in a bus.
Full group capacity across two HiAces. No one gets separated. Both vehicles depart and arrive together.
Full fleet deployment for large groups. Corporate events, large tour groups, multi-stop itineraries. Custom combinations on request.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a private Gotemba Premium Outlets tour cost?
A private Gotemba shopping tour costs from ¥75,000 per vehicle (Toyota Alphard, 1–4 passengers, half day) or ¥90,000 for a full day. A HiAce for up to 9 passengers is ¥90,000–¥105,000. The price is per vehicle, not per person.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
All Hire Taxi Japan prices are per vehicle, not per person. A Toyota Alphard seats 1–4 passengers and a Toyota HiAce seats up to 9, so the per-person cost drops sharply for families and groups. Larger parties can book two or three vehicles in convoy — up to 27 passengers.
Why take a private car to Gotemba Premium Outlets instead of the bus?
The highway bus runs on a fixed schedule and you carry every shopping bag yourself. A private car is 90 minutes door-to-door, your driver stores purchases in the car as you shop, and you leave exactly when you are done — with an optional Mt. Fuji viewpoint or onsen stop on the way back.
When are the big sales at Gotemba Premium Outlets?
The largest sale events are the summer sale in July–August and the winter sale from late December through January, with discounts up to 70% on top of regular outlet prices. Weekday visits avoid the heaviest crowds.
Does the Gotemba Premium Outlets tour include hotel pickup?
Yes. Your English-speaking driver meets you in the lobby of your hotel in Tokyo (or any address you choose) and returns you door-to-door at the end of the day. Luggage, strollers, and shopping bags travel in the car with you.
Do the drivers speak English?
Yes. All Hire Taxi Japan chauffeurs communicate in English and are licensed professional drivers. They handle navigation, parking, and timing — and share local recommendations — but are drivers rather than licensed tour guides.
How long is the Gotemba Premium Outlets tour?
Plan for 8–10 hours. Because the tour is private, the schedule is flexible — you can extend time at any stop, skip others, or ask your driver to reorder the day around weather and crowds.
How do I book or ask a question?
Book online via the Japan Tour Package page on hiretaxijapan.com, or message us on WhatsApp at +81 70 1265 4460 for a custom plan. We confirm availability and your driver's details within a few hours.
